STAT VIALCase Study

The Challenge

After years on the market, the STAT® Vial had to be reinvented. In 2004 the FDA changed its regulations on how medical vials could be labeled. Customers needed a technical solution because STAT® Vials are essential to respiratory patients. The vials had to remain sterile, able to dose out a single unit of medication, and be clearly labeled.

The Approach

Under the leadership of Kent Byron, Acadiana Plastics Molding took aim at the challenge. Kent worked around the clock with teams in the medical, engineering and distribution fields. He built APM’s patented Laser Printing Technology from the ground up, solving a problem that would ensure patients would get their FDA compliant STAT® Vials.

The Results

Now, STAT® Vial is the leader in sterile unit dose heat seal packaging for the respiratory market. APM is the original and ONLY company capable of producing the patented STAT® Vial. APM’s revolutionary printing solution is FDA and USP <797> compliant, and the inventive process allows double sided printing on vials so manufacturers of the medication can clearly label the dose.

Swamp Dragon is a Louisiana based hot sauce company that is known for developing the world’s only true liquor-based hot sauce. Unlike more traditionally made hot sauces on the market, Swamp Dragon makes their hot sauce with bourbon, rum, vodka, or tequila.

The Challenge

According to Matt Beeson, inventor and CEO at Swamp Dragon, “One of the biggest issues we were having came in the form of the bottles used for packaging and distribution. We learned right away that glass bottles were far too fragile, and breakage in shipping was untenable. Unit and shipping costs were also a concern, as they are key to our ability to remain competitive. In addition, 3rd party companies’ markups and ordering procedures were terrible.”

The Approach

After working with the team at APM, a turn-key solution for Swamp Dragon that addresses each of their challenges. To begin with, we developed a high quality 5oz PET bottle for their use, then worked to establish an assembly and packaging process that  worked best for their needs and budget. This process included the packaging and labeling of each product, along with distribution.
